I have been using 2 monitors in some shape or form for the past 3+ years. In the early days it was a CRT attached to my laptop, then I moved to an LCD attached to the laptop. Finally, when I worked on desktops I used 2 LCD's. With this said, I am a HUGH fan of dual screens. I personally know it improves my productivity.
About a month ago there were a few extra LCD's laying around here at work so me and co-worker decided to add them to the mix. This was possible because when the company gave us desktops, the added a dual head video to the box, thus leaving the onboard video open. I have to say, it took about 30 seconds for me to adjust to the 3rd screen. But let me say this. I LOVE IT.
One of the main arguments for dual screens by developers is it allows them the ability to see their code and application at the same time, no toggling. Now with 3, I can now see my code, my application and any of the following (web browser, can we say GOOGLE, SQL editor, remote desktop, etc). Adding the 3rd monitor may not seem like that big of a deal, but now that I have 3, not sure I am willing to go back.
About the only 'issue' I have is that when my mouse in one the far left monitor I have to 'drag a long way' to get it to the far right monitor. Small price to pay for the extra screen space.
Oh yea, almost forgot. Having a 3rd increases the 'geek' factor just a little :)
Till next time,
