I was going to say something but...

Ian Cooper got there first.  He does a wonderful job pointing out what the heart of my concerns over the Entity Framework are.  And, if I may say so, what one of Microsoft's biggest deficiencies is: Learning from the past and learning from others.

I can't agree with you more. Ever since I started using .NET with 1.0, I've wondered "Why O' why is Microsoft just ignoring what the Java camp has been through already? They've already experienced these pains! They already have patterns to help with this stuff!!". It's 2008 and Microsoft is just now releasing a quality MVC framework and 'trying' to do an ORM. Really???? This is Java c2000!!!!
